(Sec 3) Invitation: Visit to Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) 2014

Dear Parents/Guardians (Sec 3 students only),
OBS has extended an invitation to parents/guardians who wish to visit its facilities during the Sec 3 OBS Camp 2014.

**Update: We regret to inform you that due to the overwhelming response to the parents’ visit to OBS 2014, we will not be able to accept any more reservations. Thank You.

A guided tour will be conducted around the camp facilities and camp grounds. There will also be time for you to interact with our child/ward and see him/her in action at the camp. As there are only 30 places available, the invitation is extended strictly to parents/guardians only and it will be assigned on a first-come-first serve basis.
  • Date: 11 Feb 2014 (Tuesday)
  • Time: 10.00 a.m. to 12.30 a.m.
  • Venue: Outward Bound Singapore, Pulau Ubin
Note: Boat services and water will be provided F.O.C. Please meet at Punggol Point Jetty before 10.00 a.m. You may want to bring some sun protection. T-shirt and shorts or sports attire will be appropriate.

2014 OBS Matters (Sec 3)

Dear Sec 3 students,

Greetings.

Please take note of the following:

1)  There will be a pre-course briefing on 7 Feb 2014 during the Assembly period.  Please bring your LDs for the briefing.

2)  Day 1: All participants will report to school by 7.40 am on 10 Feb at the MPH.  Buses will be provided to ferry the students from SST to OBS Reception Centre (OBSRC) near Punggol Point Jetty. Students who wish to report directly to OBSRC will need to inform Mr Jerome Tan through email by 7 Feb and report to OBSRC by 8.30 am.

3)  Day 5: All participants are expected to arrived at the Punggol Point Jetty between 3pm to 3.30pm. Buses will be provided to ferry the participants from OBSRC to SST.  Estimated time of arrival is between 3.45 pm to 4.30 pm.  Students who wish to be dismissed directly from Punggol Point Jetty are to adhere by the following procedure:

a) For those leaving with parents/guardians: Participants to inform Mr Jerome Tan and mark attendance before leaving the jetty.

b) For those leaving without parents/guardians: Participants' parents/guardians to inform Mr Jerome Tan through email by 13 Feb (Day 4).  Participants will not be allowed to leave on their own without parents/guardians unless the emails are received on time.

4)  Students who will not be participating in OBS are required to report to SST according to the usual school schedule i.e. 8.40 am on Monday and 7.40 am on other days. There will be a special programme for these group of students and they will be dismissed at 12.30pm daily.  Please remember to attend CCA as usual.

5)   Please refer to the Sec 3 Googlesite (Announcements) for the pack list if you have misplaced the hard copy that was distributed earlier.

6)  We have scheduled a Parents' Visit to OBS session on 11 Feb from 10.00 am to 12.30 am.  There are limited places available.  Please inform your parents to email Mr Jerome Tan if they are interested.  More information can be found on the Announcements in Parents' portal on the SST Website.

7)  Take care of yourself and drink lots of water for the 2 weeks before OBS to avoid illnesses, injuries and the disappointment of not being able to participate in the exciting course.

8)  Other details will be provided during the pre-course briefing on 7 Feb.

Attire for CNY Celebrations

Dear Students,

You are encouraged to come to school with a T-shirt or Polo Tee in any shade of red and school pants for the gentlemen and school culottes for the ladies. Normal school rules pertaining to attire apply (ie. no offensive prints etc.) S&W attire is not allowed (even if it's just the t-shirt).

Students who do not wish to come in the above may come to school in the usual school uniform.

Please do bring your reading materials.

(S1 & 2) Invitation to Support (as Ushers) for National Conference

Dear Students (Secondary 1s and Secondary 2s)

SST would be organising a national conference for Cyber Wellness Student Ambassadors' Programme (CWSAP) in collaboration with MOE, ETD and MDA. This is an event whereby Primary 4 and Secondary 2 students from various schools attending would gain greater insights about Cyber Wellness and Cyber Relationships and create an action plan for their own school.

The event for Primary school students will take place on

  • 12th February 2014
  • at SST - Multi-Purpose Hall & Block C Classrooms
  • 1 pm to 5.50 pm
We would like to invite Secondary 1 and 2 students to volunteer to help host the guests on that day.
Your involvement would be from around 1 pm onwards.

Collection of 2013 GCE O level result.

Dear Pioneers,

The 2013 GCE O Level results will be released on 13 January 2014, 2.00 p.m., next Monday as per the announcement by the Ministry of Education.

To facilitate the collection process, please read the following information very carefully.

INFORMATION FOR COLLECTION OF 2013 'O' LEVEL RESULT
1. Reporting time: 1.30 p.m. (You are advised not to report earlier than 12 noon.)

2. Venue: Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH)

3. Attire and grooming: Please note that the school rules apply. 

You are to be in FULL SCHOOL UNIFORM for the collection of result. Students who are inappropriately dressed or with inappropriate hair colour/ hair style will not be allowed to enter SST until it has been rectified. 

4. Outstanding library books and/or fee arrears

Students with outstanding library books and/or fee arrears would have been notified by the school. Students will be able to collect their result slips from the G.O. after settling the matter.

5. Collection on behalf of students

If you are not able to collect your result slip personally, you can appoint a family member to collect on your behalf. You are to complete the proxy form that can be found on Page (i) in the 2014 JAE guide.

6. Parents and other well-wishers

Only SST students will be allowed to be in the MPH for the collection of results. Parents and other well-wishers will need to wait in the canteen.

7. SST Alumni Club

The SST Alumni club provides a platform for the SST pioneers and the subsequent batches of students to network and stay connected with one another, after graduation. 

Hence, please provide your personal contact details here so that we can keep you updated with the latest news and information about the alumni club.

Please be informed that CSP lesson will commence on 9 Jan 2014 (Thur) , 3.30pm – 5.30pm. (report to the Hall, Clementi Town Secondary School ) .  
Students are to bring $10 for the purchase of textbooks and workbooks at CTSS bookshop.

Malay (Special Programme), MSP
Please be informed that MSP lesson for Secondary 1 to Secondary 4 students will commence in Term 1 Week 2 (14 January 2013 onwards).

Sec 1 CCA Selection and Allocation

Dear Sec 1 students,

Welcome to SST.

Please take note of the following dates and events with regards to CCA selection and allocation.

CCA Briefing: 10 January 2.00 - 2.30 p.m. 

CCA Open House: 10 January 2.30 - 4.30 p.m. 

CCA Tryouts: 13 January - 24 January 
(Please attend the tryouts for the respective CCA according to the CCA schedule below.  Students may attend the tryouts even if they did not sign up for the CCA at the CCA Open House.  The CCA schedule can also be found in the Sec 1 Googlesite.)

CCA Option Exercise: By 27 January (Close)
(Students will be issued CCA Option Forms by 17 January 2014.  Students may also download the forms from the Sec 1 Googlesite.)

CCA Allocation: 7 February
(Students will be informed of their CCA Allocation by their Form Teachers.  Students will formally start to attend their allocated CCA from 10 February onwards.)

Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) 2014

Dear Sec 3 students,

As confirmed during the briefing i had with you, there will be an OBS Medical Check-up provided by ST Medical Services.  Details are as follows:

Date: 6 Jan 2014 (Mon)
Time: 2.45pm to 5.30pm
Venue: Learning Oasis 2
Cost: $16 per pax  
Tetanus Immunisation: $20 per pax (For selected students)

Please bring along: 
1) Health Booklet.
2) OBS Registration Form duly signed by Parent/Guardian and cost required.
3) Parent reply slip to the Principal's letter (if you have not already done so.)

For students who have CCAs on that day, please seek permission from your teachers in class to allow you to leave at 2.40pm.  All students are to proceed directly to LO1 upon your dismissal from class.  You will be scheduled for your lunch after reporting.

The attached documents you can find in the Sec 3 Googlesite are for your usage, in case you have misplaced the hard copies we issued you before the year end holidays last year.

To all Sec 3 and 4 students taking Design Studies in 2014, 

Your first tutorial session in Term 1 Week 1 would be held at the Seminar Room (Block C, Level 3)

For the Sec 3's, your session would be on Monday(6th Jan), from 1220 to 1310 hrs
For the Sec 4's, it would be on Wednesday (8th Jan), from 1245 to 1335 hrs.

Y2014 S2 Students: English Language - Reading

Dear Students:
  • The prescribed novel for 2014 Secondary 2 students, ‘The Boy in The Striped Pjyamas’ (by John Boyne) will only be available for sale in the school bookshop from February 2014 owing to an island wide shortage. 
  • In the meantime, teachers will be making copies of the relevant sections of the novel for students for lessons.


Dear Parents:
  • Students have been told to borrow a copy of the novel and finish reading it during the school holidays. 
  • Kindly remind your child to complete the reading if he/she has not already done so. 
  • Students are also strongly encouraged to purchase the teacher's recommended edition of the novel from our school bookshop when it becomes available, unless they already own a copy of the novel.

[DC] Parents Engagement Session #1 - for Y2014 S1 Parents

Dear Parents/Guardians of Sec 1 students,

SST will be conducting a Parents Engagement Session for parents of incoming Secondary 1 students. 

This is an induction on how students would use computers for learning in SST. We will touch on the guidelines on students' use of learning devices in the school. We will also be sharing with parents information related to Digital Citizenship, which we hope that it will better prepare parents to support their children in the transition from primary to secondary school, in particular learning in the 1-to-1 ICT-enabled environment.
