Dear Students

The General Office opening hours are as follows:

7.00 am to 6.00 pm (Monday - Thursday)
7.00 am to 5.30 pm (Friday)

Students are reminded that they are not supposed to be around the school premises after 7.00 p.m. unless on official school duties.

English Language Day on 28 February 2014

English Language Day is on Friday 28 Feb 2013. 

We have
  1. a display of some of the new books recently acquired by the info-hub in the canteen during recesses and after school. You can browse through some of the many new titles and borrow a book or two on the spot.
  2. the play ‘Mind Your Language’ by Drama Arts during assembly period @11.55 in the Multi-Purpose Hall.
  3. the launch of the Inter-House Challenges and we start with Inter-House Speech Challenge (Upper Sec) and the Inter-House Story-Telling Challenge (Lower Sec).  
House Captains to please oversee this.

Volunteers Recruitment Drive - TOUCH Young Arrows (TYA)

This announcement is for all Sec 3 students.

Please note that TOUCH Young Arrows (TYA) is currently doing a recruitment for volunteers. You may wish to drop by the recruitment booth tomorrow to find out more about TYA and the commitment level for their programmes.

Details of the recruitment as follows:

Date - 27th Feb 2014 (Thursday)
Time - 10am - 4pm
Venue - School Canteen


*Though there are limited vacancies for the recruitment drive for TYA, we strongly encourage you to approach the volunteer (Helene Tan) who will be manning the recruitment booth to find out more about TOUCH and how you can go about contacting the relevant divisions/departments for more information on volunteering with the many different programmes they have.

MTL Mock Examination on 18 March (TUE)

Dear Sec 4 MTL Students,


This MTL Mock Examination on 18 March (TUE) is meant for students taking Chinese Language, Malay Language and Tamil Language. 


Please report to the venue at 745 am sharp. The exam schedule will be as follow: 
Paper 1 - 8 am to 10 am 
Break - 10 am to 1025 am
Paper 2 -1030 am to 1200 pm


The Venue are as follow: 
S401, S402, S403. S404 (Chinese Language Students)  - Tutorial Room 1 
S405, S406, S407, S408, S409 (Chinese Language, Malay Language, Tamil Language Students) - Tutorial Room 2


Instructions to all candidates :
1.  All students are to be in SST uniform.
2.  Please be reminded to bring your stationery and your MTL dictionary or e-dictionary for the mock exam.
3.  Do have your breakfast before the papers and bring your own food for the break.

Safer Internet Day 2014

Safer Internet Day 2014 took place on 11th February. 
In line with the global theme of “Let’s create a better internet together”, the Medial Literacy Council launched a campaign to encourage Singaporeans to pledge what we can do to make a better internet. 

For a start, every one of us has the power to make the internet a better place just by adopting 4 simple values: Responsibility, Empathy, Integrity and Respect

N.E.mation 8! Vote for Team Hashtag

Dear Students,

In September 2013, two teams participated in the N.E.mation 8! Competition themed “Together We Play A Part”. One of the teams emerged to be in the Top 10.

Team Hashtag’s entry features the journey of a National Serviceman and how other people in his life have played a part in his journey and contributed to the 30 years of total defence.

We have subscribed to a web-based grammar database "Grammarly@EDU".
Grammarly@edu is an automated writing tutoring program which 
a) helps users students develop sentence-level writing skills like grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and vocabulary usage;
b) reinforces proper citation habits by directing students to improperly quoted content in their texts;
c) encourages students to revise their writing, helping to improve the quality of written assignments which students turn in;

To access the program, here is a brief guide below:
1) Go to www.grammarly.com/edu 
2) Click on "Sign-up" button at the upper right corner of the page.
3) Enter your name and institutional email (SST email) address; choose a password.
4) Click "Continue", you will receive an email confirming your registration

[For Information] CWSAP Conference 2014 (Primary)

Dear Students

On 12 February 2014 (Wednesday), SST will be hosting the Cyber Wellness Student Ambassador Programme (CWSAP) Conference, with about 550 students and teachers from 100 Primary Schools attending the event.

The conference participants will start arriving between 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm.
The event will end by 6 pm.

Use of Venues
The Indoor Sports Hall (ISH) & Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) will be used for the event.
  • Please refrain from conducting any activities in these venues from the 1 pm to 5 pm.
Classrooms at both Level 4 & 5 will be used for the workshops in the afternoon.
  • Students of the following classes are to remove any books/ materials from their desks as their classrooms will be used for the workshop; in addition, please assist to arrange your desks and tables in the configuration (that would be issued through the Form Teacher) after the end of last period on Wednesday (12 Feb)
    • Level 4: S1-01, S1-02, S3-01 to S3-08
    • Level 5: S2-01, S2-02, S2-03, S4-02 to S4-09
  • Please refrain from conducting any activities at these 2 levels from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Please report to the respective teachers-in-charge at the following time:
  • Student Facilitators: at 12.45 pm - Learning Oasis 2
