19th Inspiring Chinese Language Teachers Awards
Dear Students,
Do you know of a deserving Chinese language teacher who has shown exemplary efforts towards the teaching of the Chinese language and culture?
The 19th Inspiring Chinese Language Teachers Awards is now open for nomination.
Organised by Lianhe Zaobao and co-organised by Singapore Chinese Middle School Teachers’ Association and Singapore Chinese Teachers’ Union, with strong endorsement by the Ministry of Education and sponsored by Lee Foundation, the awards seek to give due recognition to deserving teachers who also develop in students an appreciation for the language and culture.
Nomination forms can be downloaded HERE, from www.zaobao.com or www.omy.sg. Students can also obtain the form from the General Office Reception.
The closing date for nomination is 29 February 2016.

S2-01 and S2-02: Kayaking Cancelled
Dear Young Ladies and Gentlemen of S2-01 and S2-02,
As the air quality continues to be unpredictable, we will be cancelling your kayaking programme on 19 Oct. After verifications of marks in class (9 - 9:30am), you will have 2 Outdoor Education theory sessions:
0930 - 1100: Map Reading
1130 - 1300: RAMS
Rock climbing and bowling for other Sec 2 classes remain unchanged.
These outdoor education modules will be held at LO2. Thank you for your kind understanding. Please report in your school uniform.

Dear Parents
We are in the last quarter of 2015, soon the examinations will be over and many of us will be preparing for the holiday season for some R&R, reflection and planning for 2016.
The PforSST ExCo similarly will be making changes and you may have heard that SST will also see a change in leadership. We in PforSST decided to have our year end gathering 2015 and wanted to take this opportunity to invite you and your children as well.
This will be a great opportunity to wind-down and relax on a evening. We have planned the following:
1) Games with the children and parents
2) Giving our best wishes to Mr Hoe the current Principal
3) Welcome Mrs Linda Chan the new SST Principal
4) Getting to know the new ExCo for 2016.
5) ....Finally Dinner and mingling around before we call it a night.
So, parents, this is a great opportunity to network, let the kids have some fun, meet their seniors and look forward to 2016.

Kayaking Programme for S2-05 and S2-06
Dear young ladies and gentlemen of S2-05 and S2-06,
As the PSI is above 100, we will be cancelling your kayaking programme tomorrow. Assembly will still be in the ISH at 7.40am. Thereafter, you will have 2 Outdoor Education theory sessions:
0800 - 1000: Map Reading
1030 - 1230: RAMS
These outdoor education modules will be held at the SEMINAR ROOM. Thank you for your kind understanding. You will not be required to wear your S&W attire, so please report in your school uniform.

Urgent: Changes to IE Bazaar Layout
Hi Everyone,
I have made some changes to the MPH and ISH Layout for IE Bazaar 2015. You can find the updated layout here on slides 3 & 4:
Key points:
1. All Sec 1 games stall have been relocated to MPH
2. All food, drinks and snacks are to be sold and consumed in ISH
3. The ticketing booth can be found in the ISH (or gym, if conditions allow).
Please note that:
1. Send someone to General Office at 7.45 - 8am to collect coupons and 2 boxes.
2. After the event, return all boxes (do not throw!!!) and coupons to Our Space. Look for Ms Adele Lim and other teachers there.
Warning: Strictly no cash transactions allowed. All coupons have to be bought from SW teachers.

[Gentle Reminder for Sec 1-3 students] Please bring your LD to school tomorrow.
Dear Sec 1-3 students,
The student ICT Survey 2015 (Sec 1 -3) will be administered on Friday, 9th Oct, from 0740 to 0820. Please report to your class before 0740 for the singing of the national anthem. Your form teacher will facilitate the implementation of the survey. You are to bring along your learning device to participate in the survey. The post-exam activities will commend after the survey.
About the ICT Survey
The student ICT survey gathers student self-reported data about:
- Use of laptops and perceived effects on work habits, learning, and classroom environment
- Student engagement and the value they perceive in their schoolwork
- Learning strategies and organizational skills
These data allows us to track the progress of the implementation of the 1-to-1 programme in SST.
The expected duration of the survey is 30 minutes.

Urgent: Changes in Post-Exams Activities
Dear Students,
Due the the persistent haze conditions, we have made some changes to the End of Year Post-Examinations Activities. Please refer to the link below for the latest schedule and updates of changes to activities which are marked in red fonts.
For your information, on 9 Oct, the Outdoor Education Expedition (OEE) for S2-05 - S2-08 had been cancelled. There will not be any trekking out of school and overnight stay. Instead, you will be engaged in alternative Outdoor Education activities like First Aid (Part 2), Knots and Lashings. For S2-03 and S2-04, the kayaking had been cancelled too and replaced with Map Reading and Risk Assessment Management (Part 2).
(Sec 3 students:) On 12 Oct and 3 Nov, please note that Dragon Boating / Golf will be replaced with a Bowling Competition.
Going forward, should there be further changes, we will update the schedule between 48 to 24 hours before the activity. Please check the programme daily for updates and further instructions.
