2020 Sec 1 CCA Selection

Dear Sec 1 students,

You will be sent a form sometime next week for you to select 6 CCA's of your choice. If you still do not have 6 CCA's in mind, please take this weekend to revisit the CCA videos and discuss the options with your parents. You will be eventually assigned 1 CCA in mid-Feb, so please make sure you are comfortable with any of the 6 selections you made.

If you have missed any CCA Tryout slots (with valid reasons), please approach the CCA teachers by 1 Feb to arrange a make-up session. There are limited make-up slots on Wed, 3 Feb, and the teachers will not be able to accommodate late requests.

2021 NRIC Registration for 15 Year Olds

Dear Sec 3 Students,

Under the National Registration Regulations, all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents are required to register for their NRIC in the year they reach the age of 15 years.  The NRIC Registration Exercise (biometrics enrolment) will be conducted at SST on 19 February 2021 by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA). 

Date:    19 February 2021 (Friday)
Time:   1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Parents of registrants will receive notification letters from ICA two (2) weeks before the date of registration. The documents required for the registration will also be indicated in the notification letter.  Parents will be required to login to - go.gov.sg/icreg with their SingPass to submit the NRIC registration online before the appointment date. They are required to do the following:

  • Verify their child’s particulars; (If you wish to add Chinese/Jawi/Tamil Characters, please include during the online submission under the ‘Ethnic Name’ field. If you do not include in your application, ICA will not be able to amend your application thereafter)
  • Upload their child’s photograph and supporting documents (where applicable); and
  • Make payment for their child’s NRIC application ($10 for Singapore Citizens / $50 for Permanent Residents) 

To ensure that your biometrics are enrolled smoothly, please complete the registration online before 15 February 2021.

Students are to bring along their Ez-Link Card (MOE School Smart Card) on the day of the registration.

Students who are unable to be present for the biometrics enrolment for their NRIC in school will be required to make an appointment with ICA for their biometrics enrolment.

[S2, S3, S4] Reminder: IT Helpdesk Update

Dear students,

As mentioned in the 2020 principal’s letter to parents, the ICT Helpdesk will continue to provide software and networking troubleshooting services. However, with increased access to Apple service centres, SST will cease the Helpdesk hardware diagnostic/repair services on campus from 2021. Parents will no longer need to pay the annual service fee for the hardware diagnostic/repair services.

Students will receive support through the following platforms: 

  • AppleCare support helpline: 800-186-1087

  • Hardware diagnostic/repair services from Apple service centres. 

  • Software and networking services at the ICT Helpdesk.

Annual School-Based Health Screening 2021

(2) For Secondary 4 students - you may either come in S&W attire or school uniform.

(3) Only selected students from Secondary 4 will be screened.  Students selected for the Health Screening will be informed separately.

2021 International Math Contest Registration

[1] SST Students are invited to take part in the 2021 International Math Contest.

[2] The contest will be held online from 1 February to 7 February 2021. It is a 30-min online paper.

[3] The contest is free of charge (there is another option with payment, but students do not need to choose that)

[5] Students will need their parents/guardians to set up an account for them on the website. Students are to type their full name for registration.

[6] On the day of the contest, students are to choose the appropriate papers (Grade 7 for Sec 1, Grade 8 for Sec 2, Grade 9 for Sec 3, and Grade 10 for Sec 4) and work on them without external help.

[7] Once their parents have received the details of the results via e-mail (e-certificate and ranking) around a week later, students are to take a screenshot of the results. Rename the screenshot to the class, index number and the name of the student (e.g. S2-09 08 Ang Tze Kiat)  and deposit them in this Google Form.
This form will be closed on 26 February 2021 (Friday) 5 p.m. Late entries will be not entertained. 

[8] An e-mail will be sent to the students acknowledging their entry. The contest will be registered as an enrichment activity in the CCA records of the respective student only when the screenshot has clearly stated the full name of the student.

Sec 1 Students Only: Lunch Arrangement

Dear Sec 1's,

As we foresee that the canteen will be packed during lunch breaks, all Sec 1 students are to consume your lunch in class on Wednesdays and Fridays. In addition, you are

  • to eat at your own desks, even if other desks are not occupied. Wipe down after your meal.
  • not allowed to talk while eating.
  • to ensure the cleanliness of the classroom and dispose of all food waste in the bins in the canteen.
  • to return all utensils to the canteen collection points by 3pm.
Alternatively, if your CCA time slots are after 2.30pm, you can wait till the canteen seats become available before buying your lunch and consume it in the canteen.

Students are allotted timeslots by class and the tryouts are only conducted for Sec 1 students. Students are not to request for a change in timeslot unless there is a valid reason, e.g. MOE Third Language Classes.

2021 Unstructured Play (Term 1)

Dear Students,
Unstructured play will start tomorrow Tue 19 Jan, please refer to the information below. For this year, there will not be online registration using the QR code but registration will be on physical form.

Guidelines for Unstructured Play
1. The use of the various venues will be based on first come first serve basis at the venue. Prior booking is not allowed. (See table for the availability of venues and number of groups)

 2. Once the number of groups allowed for each venue is fully taken up, groups that come later will be turned away. They are not to loiter around the venue.

 3. Students must register their full names and classes using the physical paper form provided by the teacher on duty before they can start to play.

 4. The use of the venues is only allowed during the recess breaks and with teacher supervision. If the teacher is not at the venue, students are not allowed to start their play. 

 5. No unstructured play should take place before and after school.

 6. In the event of inclement weather, ISH and MPH may be used by other S&W classes for wet weather programme, hence they would not be available for unstructured play. 

 During Activities
 1. Students should only play with members of their class in individual or group activities of up to 8 students, with 3m distancing between groups. 

 2. Loan of PE equipment is allowed, with sharing of common equipment (e.g., basketball) for up to a group of 8 students in a court. The common equipment needs to be sanitised after use. 

 3. Play should not be strenuous, hence students should wear their masks. Students should not touch their faces during playtime. 

 4. Students should minimise contact during these activities.

 5. Safe distancing should be at least 2m between individuals during these activities.

 6. Students should end their play at least 5 minutes before the end of their recess to wipe down the equipment before returning to the teachers.

 7. The teachers will have the right to stop the unstructured play if the students do not follow instructions from the teachers.

Username: First 5 characters of your name, followed by last 5 characters of your NRIC number.

Fill out the FORM to indicate whether you could login successfully by 15 January (FRIDAY)

If you have forgotten your login password, you may attempt to reset the password yourself. You should receive the information via the email account that was saved in the system when you were in primary school.

Registration for 2021 The Schools Challenge

The SUTD and IDC are very honoured to collaborate with J.P. Morgan (JPM) and The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) on the 2021 The Schools Challenge to be held virtually this year from the 26th Feb 2021 to 23rd April 2021. 

The Schools Challenge takes aspiring lower secondary students through a 2-month, structured programme with SUTD, focusing on STEM and Design Innovation skills, and culminates with a student-driven social project aimed at building a smart and sustainable Singapore. 

Throughout this series of virtual workshops hosted by SUTD, each team will be able to work closely with JP Morgan and SUTD mentors. This is a rare and unique opportunity given where every team will be supported by mentors from JP Morgan who will help the students develop business skills such as project management, business planning and pitching.

 Students can take a look at the ongoing Lively Places Programme - Housing & Development Board (HDB) by HDB and URA that falls suitably in line with our URA theme of “Enliven Public Spaces”.

 

There will be an extended opportunity for schools with eligible prototypes to be able to apply for the Lively Places Fund and Challenge - Housing & Development Board (HDB) where they will be able to showcase their ideas in their neighbourhood. This fund encourages residents and stakeholders to initiate community-driven place-making projects that will help develop stronger place identity in their neighbourhood. This is definitely an opportunity for all schools to be a part of and not to miss!


Attractive prizes await with up to $2000 for the winning team and up to $1000 for category winners.

Each school is allowed a maximum registration of 4 teams only and each team must consist of 4 lower secondary students. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. Interested students can email Mr Lam Hin Chew (lam_hin_chew@sst.edu.sg) with the team name, full name, email and classes of all the members. Self-registration will not be accepted. The student who emailed will be the leader of the team.


Lastly, all successfully registered teams must attend weekly I&E TDP sessions on Monday from 3.00 - 4.30 p.m. to prepare for the competition.

NXPlorers 2021 is now open for registration!

NXplorers is organised by Shell and delivered by Science Centre Singapore. It offers the perfect platform to collaborate, reimagine the world, and show the way to a better future.

Over the years, students who had participated in NXplorers, were able to:

  • broaden their views, including changing the way they see themselves;
  • establish meaningful connections;
  • discuss and research local problems; and
  • explore ways to solve them.

Workshop participation

Successfully registered teams (based on timely submissions) will be guided through a workshop on the ideation process for the competition. Participation in the workshop is compulsory prior to the project proposal submission. [2020 S4] Release of 2020 Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level Examination results

This announcement is for all 2020 Secondary 4 students. 


2020 GCE O-Level Examination Results will be released on Monday, 11 January 2021 at 2:00 p.m.


1. Reporting Information and Safe Management Measures 

Given the COVID-19 situation, students are expected to observe the Safe Management Measures (SMMs) put in place.

  • Only SST students will be allowed to enter the school to collect their results. Parents who drop off their children at the school will have to leave immediately after dropping off. No parking is allowed in the school.

  • Students are to have their temperature taken and SafeEntry check-in done when they arrive at Gate A and B of the school. 

  • Students are advised to arrive in SST between 1.00 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. Students are not to report to SST before 1.00 p.m. so as to avoid intermingling with current students. 

  • Students are to report directly to their respective venues by 1:30 p.m.

  • Students who are unwell, on Quarantine Order, Stay-Home Notice or Leave of Absence on the day of the results release, should not return to school to collect their results. (See point 5 for more information)


2. Items to bring

  • Students are to bring along their NRIC/Passport/Birth Certificate/Student Pass for identification purposes. Writing materials are optional. 


3. Dress code & grooming 

  • All students must be properly attired in FULL SST uniform.

  • Student’s grooming (i.e. hair colour, length, appearance) must adhere to the school’s standards. 

  • Students who fail to comply will be turned away at the Guardhouse. They will be allowed to enter the school premises once they have addressed their attire and grooming.


4. For students arriving later than 3.00 p.m. but before 5.30 p.m.

  • Students are to collect their result slip ((Form A1) from the General Office. 

  • Students are required to present their NRIC/Passport/Birth Certificate/Student Pass to the staff member at the General Office for verification.

5. For students who are unable to collect their result slips on 11 January 2021

  • Students may view their results online via Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board’s (SEAB) results release system at www.seab.gov.sg from 2.45 p.m. on 11 January 2021. The system will be accessible from 11 to 25 January 2021. School candidates who are eligible for SingPass can use their SingPass account to access SEAB’s online results release system. Students can access the results release system using the SEAB-issued PIN sent to their email addresses which their schools had provided to SEAB.

  • Students can also appoint a proxy to collect the physical copy of their result slip (Form A) on their behalf. 

    • Proxy may collect the result slip (Form A1) from the General Office from 11 January, 3.00 p.m. onwards. Proxy is required to present the following documents to the staff member at the General Office before he/she is able to collect the result slip. 

    • Result slip (Form A1) must be collected from the General Office latest by Wednesday, 13 January 2021, 5.30 p.m. 

    • Students are to contact 65717-200 (during office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) for assistance if they are unable to appoint a proxy or if they have not received their password for SEAB’s results release system.

Form A1 will list the applicant’s GCE O-Level examination results, the courses which he/she is eligible to apply for under the JAE, and his/her JAE PIN (i.e. a personal password for the applicant to access JAE-IS).
