Welcome back to SST 2023!

 Dear students, 

Welcome back to SST in 2023! 


We hope that you have had a good break and are looking forward to seeing your friends and teachers back in school! :) 


We have planned class-based bonding activities and organised talks to support you in your transition back to school.

On the first day of school, 3 January 2023, Tuesday, please report to the Indoor Sports Hall (ISH) by 0740 when you arrive in school. 


Here are some useful information and usual reminders to help you prepare for your return to school. 


Preparing for the School


1. Things to pack: 

  • A working digital thermometer
  • A lock to secure your locker
  • Hand sanitiser / Wet wipes
  • book for reading.

2. Attire and Grooming 

  • A gentle reminder for all students to be appropriately attired in your school uniform and groomed when you report for school. 
  • You may refer to the SST School Attire guidelines for details. 
  • Attire for first day of school
    • Secondary One: S & W attire
    • Secondary Two: S & W attire
    • Secondary Three: Full School Uniform
    • Secondary Four: Full School Uniform


3. Your Journey to School

  • You are advised to set off earlier than usual from home for school. 
  • When commuting to school on public transport, you are advised to practice good hygiene by sanitising your hands after touching surfaces like handrails. 

4. Safe Management Measures in School


All students are expected to play their part as a responsible member of the SST community by complying with the Safe Management Measures. 


Social Responsibility: 

  • Remain at home if you are feeling unwell or have a positive ART result and seek medical advice. 
  • Check and monitor your own temperature daily. 


5. Practising Good Hygiene Upon Arrival in School 

  • Wash hands with soap and water or clean hands with hand sanitiser.
  • Report directly to your classroom. 
  • Wipe down your desk area.
  • Wash hands with soap and water or clean hands with hand sanitiser after wipe-down.

Service-Learning opportunity - Heartware River Hongbao 2023 General Volunteer Recruitment

Dear SST Community, 

Here is sharing a volunteering opportunity for you all, where you will be part of the biggest celebrations this upcoming Chinese New Year. 

In collaboration with the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations (SFCCA), the River Hongbao 2023 is an annual event organised to celebrate the Chinese New Year festivities. 

The organisers are looking for general volunteers, who will be involved in roles such as ushering and spectator management. 

What this experience can help you learn: 

The experience provides the students an opportunity to develop their interpersonal skills, as they manage and interact with members of the public. It also allows them to forge new friendships, while immersing in a cross-cultural celebration.

SLS: New Interface and Login Methods

w.e.f. 2 Dec 2022: New look of the SLS at https://www.learning.moe.edu.sg/


You can now login to your SLS using 2 methods (as shared earlier):

  • Existing SLS account OR
  • MIMS account (which is similar to your MOE ICON email account)


If you encounter problem logging into the SLS, please send an email to itd@sst.edu.sg using your SST email account (as a means of identity authentication) 

  • Provide a clear subject heading (e.g. Problem logging into SLS)
  • State your full name, NRIC number and current class clearly in the email.
  • Describe the problem encountered clearly. Screenshots would be helpful.
REMEMBER: Observe 4Rs when crafting an email - start with a greeting.

Please note the following information for the purchase of textbooks and uniform for the next academic year:  

Purchase of School Uniform 

Purchase of school uniform can be made via the following:  

- Online purchase with delivery to home address at a nominal fee of $6 per sales transaction

- Purchase in SST (selected dates and strictly by appointment only)

- Purchase at vendor's retail outlet (strictly by appointment only).  

Current students are encouraged to purchase the uniform before 30 November 2022.  Please refer to the following link for further details on online purchase and booking of appointments.

Please note that the sale of School Uniform items in the School Bookshop will be suspended during the school holidays and until 5 January 2023.  


Purchase of School Textbooks 

Purchase of school textbooks and stationery can be made in School (no appointment required) or via the vendor's online ordering platform from 7 November 2022.  Please note that you are required to register an account before proceeding with your online purchase.  To ensure timely delivery of the school textbooks, all online orders should be placed by 14 December 2022.  Students may request for delivery to their home address (a delivery charge of $10.70 per location is applicable) or self-collection from the School Bookshop (strictly by appointment only).  Students can select the date and time for collection after orders have been placed and payments have been made online.

Joint Advisory by SPF, CNB, NCPC and NCADA and Advisory by HSA and HPB

 Dear Students

With the upcoming year-end schools holidays, the Singapore Police Force (SPF), Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and National Council Against Drug Abuse (NCADA) would like to remind students to stay away from crime and drug/inhalant abuse, as well as to take measures to avoid being victims of crime.

The Health Promotion Board (HPB) and Health Sciences Authority (HSA) would also like to alert students to the laws and harms of vaping.

[Sharing] S2 Geography Performance Task in Collaboration with LTA

At the start of the year, Our Geography Performance Task was established on our national policies on "Sustainable Transport" which is one of the key pillars of the Singapore Green Plan 2030. It was collaborated with the Land Transport Authority to make our learning on transport to be in a real world context. This learning experience sparked our curiosity and creativity in making our learning of our environment in an authentic way.

Starting from 1 December 2022, SLS will introduce an alternative method to login to the system.
Apart from the existing method, you may also login to the SLS using your MIMS account i.e. same as your ICON email address (from MOE), NOT your SST email account.

IMDA Year- End Programmes

Dear SST Students, 

IMDA is pleased to announce that the applications for their year-end programmes are now open! Backed by significant industry partners (AWS, Meta, SenseTime), these boot camps and accelerator programmes are designed to allow students to dive deeper into the world of emerging technologies such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR). They will be fully funded for successful applicants.

Please refer to the details of the boot camps and accelerator programmes below. Students can attend multiple programmes as long as their schedule permits.

Students will learn how to create their own interactive AR filters and effects and be able to publish and share their creations with the world through Meta and Instagram. AWS Data Science AcceleratorLearn about the world of Augmented Reality (AR) through Meta’s Spark AR Platform and participate in a nationwide AR competition.

Students will learn the necessary machine/deep learning skills to design and build their AI solutions to absolute problem statements provided by our partners from various sectors. [S3] 2022 S3 Supplementary Lessons, 31 Oct to 4 Nov

Dear S3 students,

Please be reminded that you are required to attend supplementary lessons from 31 Oct (Mon) to 4 Nov (Fri)

[S3] HMTL students - GCE O-Level MTL Exam

Dear Sec 3 HMTL Students

The GCE O-Level MTL Exam is scheduled on 8 November.

Please read and note the following points prior to your examination.

THINGS TO NOTE:
1. REPORTING TIME - Candidates are to report 45 mins BEFORE the start of the exam paper at the exam assembly venue.

2. ASSEMBLY VENUE/ SEAT NUMBER AND SEATING PLAN - Refer to your seat number and seating plan BEFORE the exam day - Assemble at ISH (Sit according to the row number card placed on the floor)

3. THINGS TO BRING - ENTRY PROOF and NRIC - All required exam stationery and equipment, approved dictionaries (with SST sticker) or e-dictionaries (with SST sticker)
- The e-dictionaries model MUST be visible on your dictionaries. - OPTIONAL ITEMS: Water bottles, SST Jackets (ONLY)

4. ATTIRE AND PERSONAL GROOMING - Check your own personal grooming (attire, hair, nails, etc) - SST Uniform and S&W T-shirt are allowed - SST Jacket (optional)

5. TO ENSURE EXAM RULES AND REGULATIONS ARE NOT COMPROMISED - SWITCH OFF all electronic devices, e.g. handphones, and put them in your bag before reporting at the Exam/ Assembly venue. - Check that there are no slips of papers or notes in your pockets or jacket's pockets. EMPTY your pockets before reporting to the Exam/ Assembly venue.

6. SELF-CARE: - Visit the toilet BEFORE reporting at the Exam/ Assembly venue - Fill your water bottles, if needed, BEFORE reporting to the Exam/ Assembly venue

7.     Dear S1, S2 and S3 students,

    Secondary 4 students will be sitting the GCE O-Level (Written) Exam from 14 Oct to 11 Nov 2022.

    During this period of time, please note the Out of Bounds areas and timing

    Do pay special attention to exam papers held in the MPH - the field and entire block D will be Out of Bounds to all students. This includes the ISH, Gym, CCA rooms, ACE Leaders Room, House Leaders Room, Student Leaders Rooms and Outdoor courts.

    [S4] GCE O-Level Exam - Seating Plans and Important Instructioins

    Dear Sec 4 Students


    The GCE O-Level Exam will be happening from 14 October to 11 November.

    The SEATING PLAN and SEAT NUMBER can be found in the links below:
    1. Main cohort - Click the link in Column G of the tab "SCHEDULE" to access the seating plan and seat number for the respective papers.

    The O-Level briefing slides to candidates are also attached for your reference.  

    Please read and note the following points prior to your examination.

    THINGS TO NOTE:
    1. REPORTING TIME - Candidates are to report 45 mins BEFORE the start of the exam paper at the exam assembly venue.

    2.
