Invitation to Participate: NIE Mathematics Challenge 2024

[Previously posted on 27 October 2023]

Dear Secondary 1 to 3 Students,

You are invited to participate in the 2024 Singapore NIE Mathematics Challenge for Secondary School Students (NMCSS).

It is open to all Secondary One to Three students. The competition fee is $10.80 and will be collected through Edusave. If you do not have sufficient Edusave funds, the fee will be collected through GIRO.

It will be held on Monday, 20 May 2024, 3.30 pm to 5.00 pm in school, and your LD is required to conduct the quiz.

The deadline for signing up will be 1 March 2024 (Friday) 5.00 p.m.

[S1] Invitation to join the MINDEF's Sentinel Programme

MINDEF's Digital and Intelligence Service has launched the Sentinel Programme, a talent development programme to equip youths with cybersecurity and digital skills. Selected Secondary 1 students would go through a progressive training curriculum throughout their secondary school years to explore cybersecurity and digital applications, starting from the middle of their Secondary 1 year.

2024 MTL Fortnight 29 Jan (Mon) to 9 Feb (Fri)

This year marks the 14th year with MTL Fortnight in SST. A myriad of activities has been planned by the MTL dept with the following objectives in mind:

(1) To create an immersive environment for the learning and appreciation of MTL;

(2) To provide platforms for students to actively learn MTL and the associated culture; and

(3) To provide authentic opportunities for students to use MTL and experience the culture.

Harms of Vaping - Stay Away!

Dear students,

E-cigarettes (also known as e-cigs, vapes, or mods) are illegal in Singapore for all ages. Under the Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act, the possession, use, or purchase of e-vaporisers carries a maximum fine of $2,000. It is also an offence to import, distribute, sell, or offer for sale e-vaporisers and their components.

2024 S1 CCA Tryout Schedule

Dear S1 Students,

Please refer to this spreadsheet for your CCA tryout schedule. All the CCA tryout sessions are held at their respective CCA training venue (unless otherwise stated).

As shared during my briefing last week, you are strongly encouraged to attend at least THREE different CCA tryouts. If you have valid reasons on why you cannot make it for any CCA tryout slots, please contact the CCA Teacher-in-charge and arrange another tryout slot with the CCA.

Release of 2023 GCE O-Level Examination Results

 This announcement is for all 2023 Secondary 4 students.

 

2023 GCE O-Level Examination Results will be released on Thursday, 11 January 2024 at 2:00 p.m.

 

Reporting time & items to bring

• All students are to be seated at the Multi-purpose Hall (MPH) by 1.30 p.m. 

• You will be allowed entry into SST from 1.00 p.m. onwards. Please stay in the Atrium and do not wander around campus as lessons are in progress. 

• Please bring along your NRIC/Passport/Birth Certificate/Student Pass for identification purposes. Writing materials are optional. 

Dress code & grooming

• All students must be properly attired in FULL SST uniform.

• Your grooming (i.e. hair colour, length, appearance) must adhere to the school’s standards. 

• Students who do not meet the attire and grooming rules will be directed to the Visitor's Center where they will obtain their results at that venue at a later timing. 

For students arriving later than 3.00 p.m. but before 5.30 p.m.

●  Students are to collect their result slip and certificate from the General Office.

• Students are required to present their NRIC/Passport/Birth Certificate/Student Pass to the staff member at the General Office for verification.

For students who are unable to collect their result slips on 11 January 2024

• Students can also appoint a proxy to collect the physical copy of their result slip and certificate on their behalf.

• Proxy may collect the result slip and certificate from the General Office from 11 January, 3.00 p.m. onwards. Proxy is required to present the following documents to the staff member at the General Office before he/she is able to collect the result slip.

■  SST Authorisation Letter duly completed

■  Student’s NRIC/Passport/Birth Certificate/Student Pass

■  Proxy’s original NRIC

• Result slip and certificate must be collected from the General Office latest by Friday, 12 January 2024, 5.00 p.m.

• Students are to contact 65717-200 (during office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) for assistance if they are unable to appoint a proxy.

2024 ACE@SST: Service-Learning, Volunteering and Service Hours Matters

Dear students, 

Welcome to 2024! 

In SST, our ACE curriculum seeks to seeks to nurture passionate advocates engaged in active citizenship and transformed by service-learning and some cohort-wide programmes you will experience are listed below. 

Secondary 1

Basic Advocacy and Service Education programme

Secondary 2

ACE Student Leadership selection & ACE curriculum

Secondary 3: 

Cohort-wide School Led Service projects with HaoRenHaoShi (好人好事)  

Student-initiated Service-learning projects (Term 1 to 3) 

Overseas Service-Learning trips (TBC)

Secondary 4: 

Cohort-wide School Led Service projects (Term 1 to 3) 

Student-initiated Service-learning projects (Term 1 to 3) 

Other than the cohort-wide service-learning programs, student agency is encouraged and further service opportunities are available through, 

1. Volunteering with Student-initiated projects organised by the ACE student leaders such as #SSTACTvocates. 

2. Initiating your own service projects

3. Volunteering with external organisations. 

Volunteering through Student-initiated projects. 

The ACE student leaders will organise student initiated service projects and will seek volunteers through our common ways of communication. Students are encouraged to sign up for them. Examples of projects are collaborations with Kids Learn Code, Singapore Cancer Society and MCYS and many others. 

Self-initiated service projects

Students are also encouraged to initiate their own service projects in the areas they are passionate about. If you are keen, please write in to the relevant teachers-in-charge or seek out a fellow ACE student leader who will guide you from there.

Volunteering with external organisations. 

SST recognises service rendered to external organisations provided certain conditions are met. Please note the following information on volunteering and submission of service hours documents. 

(i) Before volunteering: Get permission from your parents/ guardians before signing up with the external organisation.

(ii) After volunteering: Obtain an official document from the external organisation with your full name and the hours volunteered. This document must be signed by the personnel in charge or stamped with the official logo of the organisation.

(iii) Within 2 weeks after the completion of service: Submit a scanned copy or clear photo image of the official document using “ACE@SST: Service Hours Submission” Google Form.

* If you intend to volunteer regularly/ multiple times at the same external organisation, submit the official document only after the last service for the year latest by 1 November 2024.  

* For service at an external organisation with a group of friends on the same dates, only 1 representative should submit the Google Form on behalf of the group, attaching the relevant documents for every group member in the form.
