Service-Learning opportunities - Sign up for National Day Parade Hospitality Management Programme by Heartware Network

Dear Sec 3 and 4 student,  

Since 2000, Heartware Network has been supporting the National Day Parade Executive Committee (NDP EXCO) by training and managing a group of youth volunteers to provide support in the area of hospitality management at the annual National Day Parade (NDP). 

In the 25th year of collaboration with the NDP EXCO, Heartware Network will be recruiting, training and developing youths into leaders of tomorrow through the exciting experience of serving the community at a national event.


*Please note that this is only open to students 15 years old and above.

Invitation to Service Learning Fellowship lectures

Hello! We are The Service Learning Fellowship, which is a ground-up fellowship programme dedicated to empowering and mentoring youths to effect innovative and sustainable change to address the most pressing national issues of today. 

We are hosting Guest Lectures, featuring speakers who are experienced in the world of social work and volunteerism, to talk about their experience and what attracted them to work in their respective fields. By becoming a participant in our Guest Lectures, you will be able to learn more about the world of social work, and interact with other like-minded individuals too!

2024 Health Screening and Vaccination (Sec 1 and Sec 2 Students)

The Annual School-Based Health Screening and HPV Vaccination for our students will commence in Term 2.

Kids Learn Code recruitment drive - Sign-up details

Dear S1 to S3 SSTudents,


As you may know from our website (https://www.kidslearncode.org/), Kids Learn Code (Kids Learn Code) is a non-profit ground-up initiative planned and run by students from SST. We are inviting interested students to volunteer in our upcoming programmes and workshops. 


This year, we will be recruiting two categories of Volunteers: Core and Ad-Hoc. Please see below on the job scope: 


  • Core Volunteer

    • In charge of planning, proposing and running the programmes with our partners

    • Constantly improving the slides/quizzes

    • Based regularly

  • Ad-Hoc Volunteer

    • Participate in selected workshops if keen

    • Based on an ad-hoc basis

    • Requirements/Commitments are Less Stringent

2024 #SSTGreenChallenge | An #ACEarth Month initiative

Dear SST Family, 


Thinking of how to contribute to the environment this earth month but just don’t know what to do? Well, #SSTGreenChallenge is the event for you!


#SSTGreenChallenge is a competition organised by #SST-ACTvocates, to encourage SSTudents and SSTaff to play their part for the environment while inspiring others to advocate through social media platforms like Instagram.


2024 Theme: Planet vs Plastics


In conjunction with Earth Day falling on 22 April, this year's challenge theme is “Planet vs Plastics”. 


Two ways you can participate:


#PlasticDetox@SST

  1. Take a photo/video of yourself replacing a single-use plastic item with a reusable item (eg. using a tote bag instead of a plastic bag)

  2. Write a unique caption explaining why you chose to replace this item

  3. Submit to this Google Form to earn house points!


Artwork/Poster*

  1. Take a photo/video of your artwork/poster

  2. Write a unique caption explaining your poster and how you made it

  3. Your poster should include:

    1. Your #PlasticDetox journey

    2. Why you chose to replace this plastic

  4. Submit to the Google Form to earn house points!

*You should do the #PlasticDetox@SST before you make your artwork/poster

*Extra points are awarded if you do this challenge as well


Bonus points if you:

  1. Post your picture/video/artwork on your Instagram

  2. Follow @sstactvocates and include competition hashtags (#SSTGreenChallenge & #ACEarthMonth)

  3. Include your house hashtag, tag your house (eg. #SSTGreenHouse


Top 5 entries stand to win attractive prizes, all participants will earn house points


The deadline for submission is T2W6 30 April Tuesday, 10pm.

Rules and Guidelines for entries

  1. Entry submission account must be set to 'Public'.

  2. Do tag @sstactvocates and use the hashtag #ACEarthMonth and #SSTGreenChallenge 

  3. No inappropriate words/poses in the caption/photo

  4. Captions

  5. Video requirements:

    1. Minimum time of 30 seconds, and maximum 3 minutes

    2. Audio quality should be clear 

    3. Voice (if you have) and words are clear and loud (can be heard)

    4. If (background) music is used, there should be no profanities/ inappropriate language 

  6. Any post that does not abide by the rules and guidelines will not be considered.


Criteria: 


Relevance

How related is the photo/video related to this year’s theme, “Invest in our planet”, and the competition

Creativity

How creative is the post in expressing its message and 

Effectiveness

How effective are the post and captions in presenting their message?

2024 School Dental Service (Sec 1 and Sec 3 Students)

Dear Sec 1 and Sec 3 Students,


The School Dental Service (SDS) will commence service to Secondary 1 and 3 students from 16 April 2024 onwards.

Students, whose parents have given consent earlier, will be required to report during school hours, upon request by the Dentist, to the mobile SDS bus which will be stationed at the visitors' car park.

Early Dismissal for Muslim Students on Eve of Hari Raya Puasa (9 April 2024)

In view of the preparation for Hari Raya celebrations, all Muslim students are allowed to be dismissed from class and leave the School at 10.40 am on the eve of Hari Raya Puasa on 9 April 2024, Tuesday.
