International Friendship Day 2016 International Food Bazaar on 7th April 2016

Dear Students

The International Friendship Day 2016 reminds us of the need to understand Singapore's relationships with neighbouring countries, the ASEAN in particular, and beyond.

One of the ways in which we interact with the histories and cultures of other countries is through food and more often than not, we do without even knowing so.  For food, when uncovered, reveals its country of origin, its geography and the story and processes of how it came about.

In commemoration of International Friendship Day 2016, the National Education Committee has organised a International Foods Bazaar for you on the 7th April 2016, Thursday.  The International Foods Bazaar will be held during the Upper Secondary and Lower Secondary Recess Breaks at the SST Canteen.

If you are keen to purchase some of the international foods sold in the SST Canteen during the International Food Bazaar, you may wish to bring along $2.50 - $3.50 in cash to do so.

If you have purchased some of the international foods, we then ask you to pay a little more attention to the different ingredients within your bowl or plate and think of how that bowl or plate might possibly comprise of different countries, cultures and trade relationships.

Do get a good day ahead

Regards
Madam Azizah Bte Ahmad, Ms Huang Pei Shan, Ms Ruth Loh, Mr Alvin Tan, Ms Wong Ho Yan
