Youth Day commemorations @SST 🌟 - Celebrate Giving to Youth Appeal !

Dear Students of SST,

Youth Day is a time to celebrate the energy, potential and contributions of young people. This year, we invite you to celebrate by making a difference through the Youth Day Appeal (YDA).

For 42 years, YDA has been part of Community Chest’s youth outreach efforts, bringing students across Singapore together to support those in need.

This year, SST will be adopting a customised QR code for our school for YDA donations.

There will also be a short in-class briefing on YDA by Form Teachers on T3W1 Friday, 3 June.

Students with a banking app may make their donation directly by scanning the QR code below. Students without a banking app may approach your parents for help with the donation.

Please note that there will be no physical collection of cash donations. All donations should be made through the QR code.

Every dollar counts. You can make a difference by donating part of your pocket money and encouraging your classmates to give together.

Beyond giving, you can also help by sharing the message of YDA with your friends and inspiring others to care for those in need.

Let us come together as one SST community to celebrate Youth Day by giving with compassion, respect and empathy.

Together, every act of giving makes a difference.
Happy Youth Day!

Implementation of the Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS) in schools

 Dear Students

Following the National Environment Agency's launch of Singapore's nationwide Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS) on 1 Apr 26, all MOE schools will be implementing this initiative. The scheme encourages mindful consumption, proper recycling habits, and reduced littering whilst creating a clean stream of recyclables.

The BCRS applies a 10-cent deposit on beverages in plastic and metal containers (150ml-3L). This deposit is refunded when containers are returned to designated “Return Right” Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs). Only containers bearing the scheme's deposit mark are eligible for refunds.

During the transition period from 1 Apr to 30 Sep 26, school drink stalls may sell beverages with or without the deposit mark. A 10-cent deposit will only be charged for beverages with the deposit mark. Containers without the deposit mark are not eligible for a refund.

From 1 Oct 26, all regulated beverages sold in school canteens must carry the deposit mark as required by law. Similar to hawker centres, the drinks stallholders will charge the 10-cent deposit directly to students. This minimises operational burden and financial risk for stallholders, especially elderly ones who will find it challenging to return the containers

Students are encouraged to develop responsible recycling habits by returning empty containers to RVMs located outside school premises. Refunds will be processed digitally through EZ-Link cards or DBS PayLah!. Whilst rinsing is not required for refunds, we encourage students to empty and rinse containers before returning them as a good recycling practice and to address hygiene concerns.

We also hope that students maintain healthy lifestyles, which includes drinking plain water for proper hydration.

Please refer to this link for more information on BCRS. Should you have any queries, please contact NEA @ www.go.gov.sg/nea-feedback, or sasd@sst.edu.sg.

Thank you for your support in helping our students develop sustainable

habits.
