On 18 and 19 February 2017, the SST Astronomy Club will be joining other groups, including SINGASTRO, Institute of Physics Singapore, National University Singapore, Hwa Chong Institution and other Astronomy Interest Groups to host the largest Astronomy Exhibition in Singapore.
SST will be showcasing its Radioastronomy Research to the public.
Booth Name:
LISTENING TO THE UNIVERSE
Research Work Description:
Over the last 5 years, SST has been conducting Astronomy-Based Research for its students. Amongst the more interesting are the projects based on radio telescopes. There are various models of radio telescopes available for the students to work on.
SST will be showcasing the following radio telescopes that are relevant to the amatuer astronomers: RADIOJOVE, INSPIRE, SSID, SSRT and WRMDS. These telescopes operate on different frequencies to detect emissions from the planet Jupiter, Lightning, Solar Flares and Meteors. This exhibition booth aims to open up the radio spectrum where we can “hear” the universe.
