Total Defence Day & Exercise SG Ready 2026 (ESR2026)

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As part of our school’s commemoration of Total Defence Day and participation in Exercise SG Ready 2026, our students will experience a simulated power and digital connectivity disruption on 09 February 2026, Monday.

This disruption exercise aims to prepare students for potential disruptions to our power supply and digital infrastructure (e.g., due to supply chain disruptions/ digital compromise), given Singapore’s reliance on fuel imports and internet connectivity. In such a situation, electricity and internet connectivity may be compromised or prioritised for more critical areas, and households and organisations, including schools, may have to endure disruptions to their power supply and function without digital networks.

The exercise will occur during school hours, without advanced warning to students, to simulate how actual disruptions would unfold unexpectedly. Electricity and digital connectivity will be switched off school-wide for approximately 2 hours, with lessons continuing throughout the period. Following the exercise, students will reflect on their experience and share their thoughts and feelings with their classmates through a guided discussion.

Parents/Guardians may wish to engage their child/ward in sharing his/her experience with you and reinforce the important notion that everyone has a part to play in total defence. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mr Keith Wee or Ms Esther Tan via wee_kheng_leong@sst.edu.sg or tan_sixuan_esther@sst.edu.sg, respectively.

Thank you for your continued support.

Racial Harmony Day 2025 – Our People, Our Tapestry

Dear students,

As Singapore celebrates her 60th birthday this year, Racial Harmony Day (RHD) is a meaningful opportunity to reflect on how our nation has grown as a multicultural society — one built on mutual respect, understanding, and unity among people of all ethnicities and cultures.

This year’s theme, “Our People, Our Tapestry,” reminds us that each of our cultures is like a unique thread in the rich fabric of Singapore. Together, these threads create a vibrant and resilient tapestry. At times, differences may challenge us, but they also give us the chance to listen, learn, and strengthen the bonds that hold us together through empathy, curiosity, and care.

RHD is not just a celebration. It is a time for us to reflect on how we can express our views respectfully, appreciate diverse perspectives, and contribute to a more inclusive and united community.

To commemorate this important occasion on 21 July, all students are encouraged to come dressed in traditional ethnic attire that reflects the rich cultural heritage of Singapore. This symbolic act reminds us of the beauty and strength found in our diversity.

We also invite you to take a step further, consider swapping traditional ethnic costumes with friends or borrowing one from someone of a different culture. These small yet meaningful gestures are opportunities to build deeper understanding and appreciation for each other’s cultures.

Let us approach this celebration with openness, respect, and curiosity. Please ensure that all attire:

  • Respects cultural traditions

  • Is of appropriate length

  • Avoids offensive or outlandish designs

  • Includes covered shoes for safety

Let’s use this Racial Harmony Day to show appreciation for one another’s cultures, learn something new, and continue building a more inclusive and united community.

Together, let’s make this a meaningful and memorable celebration!

*If you have any queries regarding attire on 21 Jul or the RHD programme, please check in with your Form Teacher.
