[You are invited!] 2025 SST Rubik's Cube Competition

Dear Students,

 

We are hosting the SST Rubik's Cube Competition on 21 July 2025 (Monday). If you are interested in community building with like-minded and passionate puzzle-solvers, you are welcome to join the organising committee by indicating here before 7 July 2025 (Monday).


The competition will be held after school from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. You do not need to attend the entire duration, only the event that you wish to participate in. Your participation should not affect your CCA or other school activities. For each event, there will be two categories, Competitive and Open.

 

In the Competitive Categories, participants will be timed for three solves, with prizes up for grabs. House points will be awarded — come and challenge yourself! If you are new or just exploring cubing, try out the same scrambles in a relaxed format in the Open Categories. You may track your own timings. House points will still be awarded — come down and have fun!

 

The timings for the segments are as follows:

 

2x2 cube (Competitive)

3:30pm

3x3 cube (Competitive)

3:50pm

Pyraminx (Competitive)

4:10pm

2x2 cube (Open)

4:30pm

3x3 cube (Open)

4:50pm

Pyraminx (Open)

5:10pm

 

You will be required to bring your own Rubik's cubes or Pyraminx. You may participate in more than one segment. To help us plan for the scale of the competition, please sign up to indicate your interest here before 7 July 2025 (Monday). Updates will be sent to students who have signed up closer to the competition date.

[S1 to S3 Only] Invitation to Participate: The International Applied Mathematics Olympiad (IAMO)

You are invited to participate in the International Applied Mathematics Olympiad (IAMO).

The objectives of the IAMO are:

  1. to foster critical thinking and scientific inquiry through the challenges of solving Mathematics problems

  2. to identify the top students in the field of Mathematics who are ready to compete at an international level


It is a series of 90-minute online Mathematics quizzes for students.

  • The 1st round is a 25-MCQ quiz, and finalists would be shortlisted to attempt a 2nd round of 30 MCQs.
  • The 1st round will be held online on 12 July, from 0730 PM to 0930 PM, and the second round will be held online on 19 July, from 0730 PM to 0930 PM. (Do note that the two dates fall on a Saturday)

The competition fee is paid in SGD, equivalent to $20 USD, and will be collected through Edusave. The fee will be collected through GIRO if you do not have sufficient Edusave funds.


Slots are limited and will be based on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you wish to participate in this challenge, kindly sign up here.

[S2, S3] Invitation to participate in Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) 2025



You are invited to participate in the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC) 2025.


The AMC is an engaging 30-problem competition that demonstrates the importance and relevance of mathematics in students' everyday lives.


Details

Date of competition: 6 August 2025 (Wednesday)

Time/Venue: 2.30 - 4.30 pm


Cost: AUD8.50 (S$7.58) (collected through Edusave)


All Sec 2-3 students are eligible to sign up.

2025 SASMO Registration

Dear Students

1. You are invited to take part in the Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO) 2025.

2. It will be held on 7 April 2025 (Monday) from 3.10 pm to 4.40 pm in school.

3. All S1-S4 students are eligible to sign up.

4. There will be a compulsory online training module consisting of 30 questions, to be completed at your own convenience, before participating in the competition.

5. The competition fee is $28 and will be collected through Edusave.
6. If you do not have sufficient Edusave funds, the fee will be collected through GIRO.

[S1, S2, S3] Invitation to Participate: NIE Mathematics Challenge 2025

Dear Secondary 1 to 3 Students


You are invited to participate in the 2025 Singapore NIE Mathematics Challenge for Secondary School Students (NIEMC).


It is open to all Secondary One to Three students. The competition fee is $10.90 and will be collected through Edusave. If you do not have sufficient Edusave funds, the fee will be collected through GIRO.


It will be held on T2W9 Monday, 19 May 2025, 330 PM to 500 PM in school, and your LD is required to conduct the competition.

2024 SST Rubik's Cube Competition

Dear Students,

 

We are hosting the SST Rubik's Cube Competition on 15 July 2024 (Monday). If you are interested in community building with like-minded and passionate puzzle-solvers, you are welcome to join the organising committee by indicating here before 1 July 2024 (Monday).


The competition will be held after school from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. You do not need to attend the entire duration, only the event that you wish to participate in. Depending on the event that you are participating in, this should not affect your CCA or other school activities. For each event, there will be two categories, Competitive and Open.

 

For the Competitive category events, students will be timed and the timing of 3 solves will be recorded. Prizes will be awarded to the top timings for each event. Your Houses will be recorded for House points. Challenge yourself!

 

For the Open category events, students who are just starting out and interested can try out the same scrambles as the competitive categories. You may record your own timings. Your Houses will be recorded for House points. Just come down to have some fun!

[Invitation to Participate] The 2023 NUS Statistics Poster Competition

Dear Students,

The Department of Statistics and Data Science, NUS, is organising a yearly competition for pre-university students. The objective of the competition is to expose young people to concepts and methods used in statistics and data science.  


Participation is open to all students of secondary schools, polytechnics and junior colleges in Singapore.  


Submissions have to be in the form of a poster, in which students attempt to answer a well-specified question by means of a specific data set.


Students may work individually or in teams. The maximum number of students per team is five. Students will work on their entries under their teachers' supervision.


Students are free to choose a topic of their interest, and they are free to choose a data set related to that topic. They are also free to formulate the specific questions they want to answer with that data set.  


If you are interested in signing up for the competition, please form groups of no more than 5 people and indicate your interest here.

[S1 Only] Invitation to Participate: The 2023 Singapore NIE Mathematics Challenge for Secondary School Students (Last Call)

You are invited to participate in the 2023 NMCSS. It is a 90-minute national online Mathematics quiz for students. The questions are closely related to the MOE Mathematics syllabus, so there is no need for extra training as long as you are coping well with your schoolwork. The NMCSS will provide students with personalised feedback on their performance. Students who participate will be placed under the following award categories:

  1. Participation;

  2. Credit;

  3. Distinction;

  4. High Distinction.


Only Secondary One students are eligible. The competition fee is $10.80 and will be collected through Edusave. If you do not have sufficient Edusave funds, the fee will be collected through GIRO.

It will be held on one of the days in Term 2 Week 10 in school. If you want to participate in this challenge, kindly sign up here.

Rubik's Cube Competition

Dear Students,

 

In celebration of Pi Day, we will be hosting a Rubik's Cube Competition on 29 March 2023 (Wednesday). This will be held after school from 1:50pm to 3:30pm. You do not need to attend the entire duration, only the event that you wish to participate in. Depending on the event that you are participating in, this should not affect interfere with your CCA or other school activities. For each event, there will be two categories, Competitive and Open.

 

For the Competitive category events, students will be timed and average of 3 solves will be recorded. Prizes will be awarded to the top timings for each event. Your Houses will be recorded for House points. Challenge yourself!

 

For the Open category events, students who are just starting out and interested, can try out the same scrambles as the competitive categories. You may record your own timings. Your Houses will be recorded for House points. Just come down to have some fun!
