Staff Appreciation Week (SAW) Information and Audition

Dear SST Students,

Staff Appreciation Week (SAW) is an annual tradition helmed by the Peer Support Board.

Objectives

  • To appreciate the contributions that the staff in SST had done to support the school community

  • For students to bond with the staff in SST and recognise the efforts the staff had contributed by learning more about their backgrounds

  • To encourage the SST community to practise appreciation towards each other which allows us to foster a positive culture in SST

  • The event seeks to foster a positive culture through appreciating the numerous things the SST family (students, partners, teachers and all school staff) do for each other on a daily basis. It is also a platform where SST students rally together as ONE SST to express gratitude and foster school spirit and identity as one SST family.

SAW 2022 Theme - “Celebrating the Stars!”

This year’s theme is akin to that of the Oscars, where we celebrate and express our appreciation and gratitude to the people in the school community by treating them like stars!

This year’s SAW Concert will be held on 1st Sept 2022 (T3W10 Thursday), and this concert will be LIVE this year!

We are inviting students to come forward and display your talent to celebrate the SSTaff and their contributions and show your appreciation for them. Applications are open to all individuals and groups. Some types of performances include: singing, dancing, playing instruments, etc! More information will be in the audition form.

**Do note that the purpose and story behind your performance will be considered during the selection process.

Here are the guidelines for students wishing to audition:

1. Audio and visual (480p or above) of your video must be clear.

2. Your audition video must be no longer than 6 minutes (maximum 1 min introduction + 5 mins for performance piece).

3. Be dressed appropriately (use costumes and props if needed).

4. No explicit content.

5. Follow the given theme (Celebrating the Stars!)

Do inform us if you need any additional items or equipment for your performances, and we will try our best to get to you as soon as possible!

If you or your group of friends is/are interested in participating in the SSTalent Show: HALL OF FAME, please fill in this form! (The form closes on 6 August 2022 (T3W6 Saturday) 1700h)

Ensure that your performance leaves an impact on both staff and students of SST, as well as enjoyable for everyone!

Thank you, and we look forward to your submissions!

From the Peer Support Board :)

Swapping of Monday and Tuesday Timetables Next Week (Term 3, Week 5)

Dear Students,

As the School will be hosting a visit by the Minister for Education, Mr Chan Chun Sing on Monday, 25 July 2022, from 8 am to 10 am, we will swap timetables for Monday and Tuesday for next week, i.e. on Monday 25 July, we will run our Tuesday timetable, while on Tuesday 26 July, we will run our Monday timetable. Reporting time for students on Monday, 25 July 2022 will thus be at 7.40 am while reporting time for Tuesday, 26 July 2022 will be at 8.40 am.

This also means that the Sec 3s will have their HBL on 25 July rather than 26 July.  However, the Sec 3 students involved in the hosting of the Minister will still report to school before 7.40 am on 25 July 2022.

Thank you.

SSTree - Contest and a student-initiated service learning project by S3-01

 Dear SST Family,

As part of our Class Service Learning Project, our class, S3-01, initiated SSTree, a project that aims to plant more trees and raise awareness about deforestation.

Deforestation leads to an increase in the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, accelerating climate change. Planting more trees also leads to an increased amount of oxygen in the atmosphere, and thus combating climate change.

As part of the project, we are holding a contest in the form of a quiz. (Open now till 22nd July) Do submit your answers here! There will be attractive prizes to be won!

Do check out @sstactvocates on Instagram to view Instagram Stories regarding deforestation and how you can play your part for the environment.
