Asia Oceania Geosciences Society Lectures

Dear students,

The Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS) was established in 2003 to promote geosciences and its application for the benefit of humanity, specifically in Asia and Oceania and with an overarching approach to global issues. AOGS is deeply involved in addressing hazard related issues through improving our understanding of the genesis of hazards through scientific, social and technical approaches.

From the 7th to 11th of Aug, SST will be hosting some of their lecturers!

CDAC - SFCCA Bursary 2018 (for Secondary 1 - 3 Students)

Dear Students,

We are pleased to inform you that the CDAC - SFCCA Bursary 2018 is open for application from now till 1 September 2017.

The eligibility criteria and benefits are as follows:

Eligibility Criteria
(a) Race/Citizenship:  Chinese students who are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
(b) Household Income:   Gross monthly household income less than or equal to $1,900 or monthly per capita income less than or equal to $650.
(c) Conduct:  Excellent, Very Good or Good
(d) Attendance:  At least 90% unless with valid reasons
(e) Others:  Not receiving The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and other scholarship or bursary (Those receiving MOE Edusave Merit Scholarships or ISB may apply.)

Benefits
Successful applicant will be notified of the application outcome and receive a bursary quantum of $450 via Interbank GIRO between 8 November 2017 and 8 January 2018.  CDAC will grant 90% fee subsidy for the bursary recipients to attend enrichment programmes/courses organised by 13 CDAC centres.  CDAC will waive the tuition fee for the academically weak bursary recipients when they attend the CDAC Tuition Programme in 2018.

Application Procedures and Submission
Students who qualify to apply for this bursary may collect the application forms from the SST General Office or download the application forms here.  Students from the same family are only required to complete 1 set of the form.  Completed application together with the required supporting documents must be mailed out to the CDAC Secretariat before the closing date (1 September 2017).

Extension of Concessionary Travel for Secondary 4 Students

Dear Sec 4 Students, 

Please note that the concessionary travel for all Secondary 4 students will expire on 31 Dec 2017
 
Please present your School Smart Card (SSC) at any Transit Link (TL) Ticket Office, Concession Card Replacement Office (CCRO), Passenger Service Centre (PSC), Add Value Machine (AVM) or the General Ticketing Machine (GTM) to extend the concession validity of your SSCs to continue enjoying concessionary travel till 31 Jan 2018.
 
All students can start to activate the extension with effect from 17 Jul 2017 and the last day for extension of concessionary travel is 17 Sep 2017 . 
 
Students who are paying their fare charges through GIRO or Auto Credit Card are also required to extend the concession validity of their SSCs  at any of the machines/offices mentioned at para 2 above.

Please call TL-Hotline at 1800-2255 663 for assistance if you encounter problem extending the concession validity. TL's Hotline operating hours are from  8am - 6pm daily  and they are closed on Public Holidays.

2017 Racial Harmony Day - Online Quiz & Cultural Heritage Display

Dear Students

The theme for this year's Racial Harmony (RH) commemoration is “The Singapore Way”. We celebrate Singapore as a harmonious society build on a rich diversity of cultures.  Each culture and race adds its own unique flavour to the Singapore way and together, we all play important roles in promoting social cohesion.

We have lined up an online quiz and displays on our cultural heritage in our daily living.

2017 Sec 3 English Language Oral Exam (19 to 24 Jul): Out-of-bounds Venues

The Sec 3 English Language Oral Examination will take place on 19, 20, 21 and 24 July 2017, from 2.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

The designated exam venue and waiting room will be Info Hub (Level 5) and Tutorial Room 3 (B-05-05) respectively.

As such, your assistance is required to ensure a conducive environment for the Sec 3s to take their examination. Please refrain from making noise in the vicinity of Block A, especially areas nearer to the Info Hub as your noise might affect the performance of those taking the oral examination.

The following venues will be out of bounds 15 minutes before the start of the examination:

  • Info Hub (Level 5)
  • Tutorial Room 3
  • Level 5 linkway from Block C to Block B and from Block B to Block A

InfoHub availability in July-August 2017

Dear Students

In July and August, a number of Oral Examinations take place in the afternoon at the InfoHub (Level 5):
  • GCE O Level Exam - Mother Oral Examination
  • GCE O Level Exam - English Language Oral Examination
  • S3 English Language - Oral Examination
As such, the InfoHub (Level 5) will be out-of-bounds during this period (both morning and afternoon)In addition, InfoHub (Level 4) will be out-of-bounds in all the afternoons.
