3. If you need to visit the washroom, go before you report to the auditorium.

Enrichment Workshop for Informatics

To cultivate creativity in problem-solving and to equip students with the knowledge and expertise of programming, the ICT department will be conducting a series of crash course for informatics competition.

In this series of 4 workshops, students will be taught:
1. Advanced programming techniques for problem-solving
2. General problem-solving heuristics

The course will be conducted in Python with a strong focus on Australian Informatics Competition questions.

If you have prior coding experience and a strong aptitude to mathematical problem solving, please complete this form and submit it by 29 July 2016.

The details of the 4 sessions of workshop are as such:

Targetted Audience: Sec 1 - 2 Students and Sec 3 students who can commit on Tuesday afternoon
Dates: 2, 16, 23, 30 Aug 2016
Time: 230 - 430 pm
Venue: SST Inc

A separate session can be mounted for upper secondary students if there is sufficient interest.

Permission to be excused from other school commitments will be granted on a case-by-case basis.

CDAC - SFCCA Bursary 2017 (for Secondary 1 to 3 students)

Dear Students,

We are pleased to inform you that the CDAC - SFCCA Bursary 2017 is open for application from now till 2 September 2016.

The eligibility criteria and benefits are as follows:

Eligibility Criteria
(a) Race/Citizenship:  Chinese students who are Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
(b) Household Income:   Gross monthly household income less than or equal to $1,900 or monthly per capita income less than or equal to $650.
(c) Conduct:  Excellent, Very Good or Good
(d) Attendance:  At least 90% unless with valid reasons
(e) Others:  Not receiving The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and other scholarship or bursary (Those receiving MOE Edusave Scholarships or ISB may apply.)

Benefits
Successful applicant will be notified of the application outcome and receive a bursary quantum of $450 via Interbank GIRO by end of November 2016.  CDAC will grant 90% fee subsidy for the bursary recipients to attend enrichment programmes/courses organised by 13 CDAC centres.  CDAC will waive the tuition fee for the academically weak bursary recipients when they attend the CDAC Tuition Programme in 2017.

Students who qualify to apply for this bursary may collect the application forms from the General Office or download the application forms here. Please note that application to CDAC closes on 2 September 2016.

Commemorating Racial Harmony Day (in DC & RHD Week@SST)

2016 Racial Harmony Day

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

The theme for this year's Racial Harmony (RH) commemoration is “Our Cultural Heritage”. Our cultural heritage refers to the community’s way of living that evolves as it is passed on from generation to generation and taking pride in one another's cultural heritage strengthens our collective identity.

We have lined up an online quiz and displays on our cultural heritage in our daily living.

Extension of Concessionary Travel for Secondary 4 Students

Dear Secondary 4 Students  

Please note that the concessionary travel for all Secondary 4 students will expire on 31 Dec 2016
 
Please present your School Smart Card (SSC) at any Transit Link (TL) Ticket Office, Concession Card Replacement Office (CCRO), Passenger Service Centre (PSC), Add Value Machine (AVM) or the General Ticketing Machine (GTM) to extend the concession validity of your SSCs to continue enjoying concessionary travel till 31 Jan 2017.
 
Students can start to activate the extension with effect from 18 Jul 2016 and the last day for extension of concessionary travel is 18 Sep 2016.
 
Students who are paying their fare charges through GIRO or Auto Credit Card are also required to extend the concession validity of their SSCs  at any of the machines/offices.  

You may call TL-Hotline at 1800-2255 663 for assistance if you encounter problem extending the concession validity.  TL's Hotline Operating hours are from  8 am - 6 pm daily  and they are closed on Public Holidays.

2016 School Dental Service (For Secondary 1 and 3)

Dear Students (Secondary 1 and 3),

The School Dental Service (SDS) will commence service to Secondary 1 and 3 students from 14 July 2016 (Thursday) onwards.

Students who have given consent will be required to report during school hours, upon request by the Dentist, to the mobile SDS bus which will be stationed at the visitors parking lots.

Study Support Programme (SSP) - Semester 2 Update

After half a year of implementation, we have sought feedback from students and staff, and reviewed our approach so that the programme could better meet the needs of our students.

Taking into account of the curriculum programme in Semester 2, there is a slight change in the 'Consultation' component and the 'Homework Support' component.

[Attn Sec 2s] Minor changes to 2016 Term 3 timetable

Dear Sec 2s,

Please note that there are changes to some of your timetables due to a need to shift some of the Sec 2 S&W lessons to the early mornings.

In most cases, the changes are carried out between lessons on the same day.

However, the following classes will have lessons swapped between different days of the week and should therefore pay closer attention to the changes:
